An IXP (Internet Exchange Point) is an interchange point, a physical infrastructure that allows the various Internet Providers to be connected to each other to exchange the traffic generated by their users and thus create a fundamental part of the Internet.

Internet is a network of networks: each provider needs to be connected to other networks in order to reach all destinations. By connecting to an IXP, it is possible to interconnect with many other networks more reliably, quickly and economically.
