New ENEA board of directors takes office

10 July 2025

The new Board of Directors of ENEA – the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development – has officially taken office.

The board will be led by President Francesca Mariotti, joined by board members Michele Ennas, Massimo Iannetta, Gian Piero Joime, and Claudio Pioli, the latter elected by ENEA’s researchers and technologists.

The new Board is tasked with guiding and supporting the agency’s strategic activities at a crucial time for applied research and technological innovation in Italy. ENEA continues to play a central role in addressing the major challenges of our time: energy transition, industrial competitiveness, and sustainability.

President Maurizio Tira and Director Claudia Battista of GARR extend their best wishes for a successful term and express full confidence in the new Board’s ability to further strengthen ENEA’s strategic role in national and international research. GARR reaffirms the importance of continuing the collaboration to support the development of a robust digital research ecosystem, integrating advanced infrastructure and innovative services in support of science and sustainability.

ENEA is one of the founding members of GARR, and the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions stands as a virtuous example of synergy between scientific expertise and cutting-edge digital infrastructure. This partnership continues to grow, underpinned by the shared belief that research is not a cost but a strategic investment in the Italy's future.
