From fostering digital literacy to advanced technical training to scholarships for young innovators: GARR in-class and distant learning activities are dedicated to the research and education community.

GARR offers courses on topics linked to the management and use of the network, as well as of advanced services and applications delivered on top of it: from network management to cybersecurity, from monitoring to digital identity, from Open Educational Resources (OER) to advanced services. Training activities are designed to support the dissemination of technical knowledge and to exchange information and best practices on research and development of new technologies and services.

In addition, GARR promotes initiatives to disseminate and enhance digital skills and digital literacy, to pave the way towards a conscious use of the Internet and the e-Infrastructures.

GARR training offer is open to all users in the Research and Education community and includes:

  • Seminars and in-class courses;
  • Webinars and self-paced e-learning courses.

GARR annually awards Scholarships to young graduates that are specialising on themes related to e-Infrastructures.

Il 21-22 novembre, gli esperti GARR hanno tenuto un seminario sulla cloud federata GARR dedicata alle reti della ricerca del partenariato orientale dell’UE, tra cui Armenia (ASNET AM), Azerbaigian (AzScienceNet), Bielorussia (BASNET), Georgia (GRENA) e Repubblica di Moldavia (RENAM).

Questa due giorni è stata un'opportunità per la condivisione delle conoscenze sugli usi delle piattaforme cloud nella comunità della ricerca italiana, con una breve introduzione delle attività del dipartimento GARR Cloud, i suoi sviluppi e casi d'uso.

Il workshop ha permesso di condividere l’esperienza acquisita nel settore da parte di GARR e di fornire supporto a delle reti che, attualmente, non offrono servizi cloud alle loro comunità o che vorrebbero espandere i loro servizi. Proprio per rendere la condivisione più fruibile, sono stati presentati dei modelli adattabili alle esigenze di diverse comunità di utenti.

L'evento è stato organizzato nell'ambito del progetto Eastern Partnership Connect finanziato dall'UE. EAPConnect mira a creare e gestire una rete a banda larga ad alta capacità per la ricerca e l'istruzione (R&E) in paesi del partenariato orientale dell'UE, con l'obiettivo di integrarli nella rete europea GÉANT e facilitare la collaborazione con i locali scienziati, studenti e accademici, anche attraverso la diffusione di servizi condivisi.
