New GÉANT Innovation Program call: funds available for original projects
The call for proposals for the GÉANT Innovation Programme has been launched, a financing opportunity for initiatives in the research and education community that has already rewarded 9 Italian institutes in the previous two editions.
Each entity linked to the GARR network can propose research projects with a funding request of up to 50,000 euros and a duration of 5/6 months.
Projects can address any area related to the community of the research networks, such as multimedia, networks, trust and identity, digital health, privacy, and security. Quality of the concept, level of creativity, and potential effect are among the rewarding aspects for selection reasons.
The deadline for project proposals is Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
The programme has a total budget of 300,000 euros to fund innovative initiatives suggested by universities, research organisations, and other educational, scientific, and cultural institutions that are members of the GÉANT community via its national research and education network, such as GARR for Italy. Joint proposals are now permitted as of this year, as long as the leading organisation is a member of the GARR network community.
The GÉANT Innovation Programme is a one-of-a-kind chance to swiftly test and develop ideas through a highly simplified and expedited selection process. Innovative initiatives such as eduroam, eduVPN, and eduMEET sprang directly from this programme.
In earlier editions, initiatives from Italian organisations were also funded; in 2023, the universities of Trieste and Cagliari, as well as the Polytechnic University of Marche, were chosen.
