The IDEM Federation's scientific technical committee and the IDEM GARR AAI Service have collaborated to create a shared document on digital identity assurance profiles, a system of rules for verifying and asserting the quality of digital identities within the IDEM Federation.

Anyone can take part in the public consultation by leaving a comment on the IDEM Federation wiki.

The adoption of a shared regulatory framework will allow IDEM Federation members to access research services that require the support of the digital identity assurance profiles defined by the REFEDS Assurance Framework. A document that will make it possible to align the digital identity management practices of the members of the IDEM Federation with the rules governing the European and Italian government digital identity (eIDAS, SPID and CIE) and with the international reference standards (ITU X.1254 and NIST 800-63). A significant step forward on the security and reliability of the IDEM Federation members' digital identity management systems as well as a valid ally to fuel the diffusion of MFA methods.

Comments and feedback are welcome. The first consultation will end on April 26 while the second on May 16.
