Registrations are now open for GARR Conference “Sostenibile/Digitale - Data and technologies for the future”

Registrations are open for the GARR Conference “Sostenibile/Digitale - Data and technologies for the future”, which will take place online from 10.00 to 12.30 between 7 and 16 June.

IThe central theme of this year's edition is digital sustainability, as both the sustainable ways of developing technology and the models with which digital technologies can be used to positively impact the environment, society and economy.

The program s divided into six days, each one dedicated to a theme that will be addressed from a multidisciplinary point of view:

  • Digital sustainability: the role of research 7 June
  • Smart cities and communities - 8 June
  • Cybersecurity - 10 june
  • Artificial Intelligence - 14 June
  • Open Science - 15 June
  • Education - 16 June

There are many prominent speakers in this content-rich edition. On the opening day, on 7th June, we will talk about the role of research for digital sustainability: with Gelsomina Pappalardo, Representative for Research Infrastructures in the National Delegation in the Horizon Europe Program Committee, we will address the importance of research infrastructures for a future digital of Europe; with Maria Luisa Lavitrano, EOSC Association, we will try to understand how the development of Open Science can facilitate the access and circulation of scientific data. Again, with Stefano Epifani, Digital Transformation Institute, we will ask ourselves why sustainability cannot do without digital transformation. Finally, with Piero Benvenuti, University of Padua, we will discuss the balance between technological development and scientific progress.

In the following days there will be many other keynote speakers: Antonio Puliafito (University of Messina), Andrea Taramelli (ISPRA) and Ettore Lopinto (ASI) on June 8th in the smart cities and communities session; Paolo Prinetto (Polytechnic of Turin) and Gerardo Iovane (University of Salerno) on 10th June for cybersecurity; Giuseppe Attardi (AI expert), Innocenzo Genna, (Jurist) and Dario De Nart (CREA) on June 14th on AI; George Petihakis (Hellenic Center for Marine Research) and Paola Masuzzo (IGDORE) on June 15th on Data Fusion and Open Science and Mario Pireddu (University of Tuscia) on June 16th on the education session.
The program is completed by many speeches by experts from the universities, research and culture sector.

As always, inthe spirit of sharing knowledge and strengthening skills that characterises GARR activity, the conference will be completed with training courses on some of the themes most requested by the community.To stay updated on the course calendar, visit:
