Presentation of the platform Open Research Europe. Open Research Europe (ORE) is the new open access publishing platform launched by the European Commission. EC grantees are invited to publish original results stemming from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects in ORE, while the publishing cost will be fully covered by the EC. ORE offers an open and fully transparent publishing workflow, from pre-print sharing and high-quality open peer-review, to enabling supporting data and materials citation for greater reproducibility and reuse.

Who should attend?

The webinar is designed for the research community participating in European Commission Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe funding programme. It is dedicated to researchers at all career levels, research support staff, technicians, technologists willing to know more about the new publishing platform ORE, and how ORE is included and supports the European Commission Open Science strategies and policies.

Speacker

Ilaria Fava : Ilaria Fava has been working for years in projects in the field of open science. Recently, she collaborated to RDA Europe and to the promotion of good practices for research data sharing. In OpenAIRE she is responsible for the communication and dissemination activities, and she interacts with F1000 team under the MoU that was signed to collectively promote and enhance the publishing platform.

Michael Markie : Michael Markie is the Publishing Director for F1000 Research. He is an open science, open data and open research advocate leading F1000’s effort to change the way science is communicated. He played a pivotal role in devising the open research publishing model and launching F1000Research in 2013, and now oversees the development of the publishing platform services F1000 provide for leading funders and institutions such the European Commission, Wellcome and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Michael is an active member of the open science community and gives many talks/seminars/workshops on the subject at international conferences and research institutions. Michael previously studied Chemical Biology at the University of Leeds, where he worked on synthesising a range of potential anti-tumour compounds.
